With Sympathy Card
Some of the most difficult cards to makes some times are sympathy cards. You want to convey both sympathy as well as encouragement. It’s a balancing act between a more serious design and a somewhat cheerful one. Here’s one of my recent attempts at this type of card.
For this card I used more neutral colors starting with a piece of kraft card stock. The pattern papers I used were actually left overs from Gina K. Designs Falling For You StampTV kit from a couple of years ago.
For the focal image I used the sprigs image from Falling For You stamp set. The sentiment comes from the Stippled Nature set, also from Gina K. I used Memeto Rich Cocoa to stamp both the image and sentiment. I cut out the focal with a circle die from Spellbinders and then used the die as a template to ink the inside of the circle with some Antique Linen Distress inks. This is one of my go to inks when I want to tone down white card stock. I added a scalloped circle brown mat to that to make the focal image stand out more from the background. Finally I added some faux stitching around the edges of the card to tie it all together.
They are not easy cards to make, but they are good ones to make ahead and have on hand for when the need arises. This way you are sure to have a beautiful card to share your heartfelt condolences with the recipient.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thanks for stopping by!
