Seize the Birthday Challenge #10: Masculine B-Day Card
I recently discovered a relatively new challenge blog that is all about birthday cards. Each week you create a b-day card based on the sketch they list. You use the same sketch for two weeks in a row, one week you create a feminine card and the following week a masculine one. This week we are to use this sketch to create a masculine card.
I decided to create a b-day card for a little boy. Check it out!
For the card stock I used Gina K. Designs Powder Blue card stock. I love her card stock because it’s nice and smooth and thick enough to create a nice sturdy card base but not so thick that it’s hard to fold. The patterned paper comes from some of my old stash of HOTP papers. I also added the rick rack to add to the whole ocean feel of the card.
For the focal image I used the Oh Boy! stamp set from Gina K. Designs. I’ve had this set in my collection for a while now but had not inked it up much, so I was happy to use it for this sketch challenge. I paper pieced the little boat and colored in the star with a Blue Star Sakura Gelly Roll pen. The waves were created using the Catch a Wave Die-namics border from My Favorite Things. I just love their dies.
For the sentiment I used the Pleasant Plurals set from Gina K. Designs with some Memento Rich Cocoa ink and matted the piece onto more Powder Blue card stock.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thanks for stopping by!
