Scrapbook Sunday: Turkey Trot
Today’s Scrapbook Sunday takes us to Thanksgiving 2012. My husband decided to run in the Turkey Trot race in the morning. We were to head down to NYC after the race to visit family for Thanksgiving. We had a bit of a delay however, because while he ran, my daughter and I stayed inside of the car and kind of forgot to turn the lights off while the car was turned off. Oops. Luckily we have AAA and didn’t have to wait too long. This is the story that is in the journaling on the page.
Believe it or not it was tough putting this one together. I started with the Geometric Paper Pack from Hot Off the Press. I just love their papers, and this collection is great for masculine pages. I wanted however to capture the “turkey” aspect of the day, but all the turkey papers and embellishments come in fall colors that I didn’t think exactly matched. I also played around a lot with the placement of the title and that photo that has the opening of the race with someone dressed like a turkey. But once I finally figured it out it all came together nicely.
I stamped the letters onto another set of Hot Off the Press papers called Rock On, another great masculine collection. I used Quinn’s ABC set from Lawn Fawn. I stamped each letter and cut it out. It took a while to do, but I loved the results. I used a bit of blue rick rack from my stash to create nice borders on the page.
And here is the little bit of “turkey” element I was able to add to the page. It’s a strip from another sheet of paper from my stash. Because I matted the photos with a similar beige color paper that is on this strip, it was all able to coordinate well.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thanks so much for stopping by!
