Scrapbook Sunday: Swing Dance 2012

Hi all,

Hope you had a wonderful and restful Sunday.  This week’s page took me a while to figure out.  For some reason I just could not get the layout right.  But once I figured it out, the rest started to come together fairly quickly.  This page is all about my daughter’s first swing dance, last year.  For weeks all she talked about was the dance, who to ask to be her partner, what the steps were, and where to find the perfect dress.  After all that anxiety, she had a marvelous time.

The papers come from Hot Off the Press.  Just combined a couple of left over sheets from previous monthly scrapbooking kits.  It was really tough figuring out what colors to match best with that bright blue background in the photos.  I finally figured out that yellow and pink worked well.  I also wanted a touch of black to pick up on the black in the clothes worn by the kids in the photos.

For the title I combined different letters from my collection.  The large blue and pink ones come from the Pastel Monogram stack by Hot Off The Press. It includes die-cut letters in different fonts, sizes, and pastel colors.  The blue ones I used for “dance” are from a very old stash of die-cut letters.  I bought these years ago and still have tons.  I had to do a bit of letter surgery to create the E at the end since I didn’t have any E’s left. I took two F’s and sliced one to complete the bottom part of the E.  For journaling I used some small pink tags I had in my stash and fortunately remembered to add them to the photos with the names of the kids.  I know years from now I wouldn’t necessarily remember all of their names.  I added black brads to hold these in place.

For additional embellishments I remembered I had these great brad buddies in my stash.  They are also by Hot Off The Press and make it very easy to embellish your page.  They have all sorts of designs for pretty much any theme you need.  Finally, I added some journaling and a couple more decorative brads and was done!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.  Thanks so much for stopping by!
