Scrapbook Sunday: Garden Adventure
It’s a beautiful Spring day here in Connecticut, the perfect kind of day to be gardening. Today’s scrapbook page is all about our attempt at a vegetable garden last year. We planted tomatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, and basil. The one thing that actually grew a lot of was the basil. My daughter and husband had a great time eating lots and lots of pesto. Yesterday, they planted this year’s garden. No tomatoes this time, but definitely lots of basil. It’ll be another summer full of pesto inspired meals.
That beautiful purple dotted paper comes from an older collection from Hot Off the Press called Use ‘Em For Anything Brights. It’s a great versatile collection of some great colors and standard patterns that can be used for just about any theme.
For embellishments I used these nice big flowers from my stash. These are also from Hot Off the Press and coordinate beautifully with many of their collections of paper. I just loved how that teal flower matched my husband’s jacket in the photo.
Another embellishment I used was this great big brad buddy also from Hot Off the Press. I added the flight pattern using a black pen and added a bit of glitter using a Sakura Glitter pen. You can also see a bit of the journaling here. I used the Journaling Stamp set from Hot Off the Press to create those lines. It’s a super simple way to add journaling right onto the background paper.
Finally, for the title I used a combination of things. The “G” in “Garden” comes from the Pastel Monograms from Hot Off the Press. The rest of the letters are from my very old stash of die-cut letters. The original color was more of a blue purple, so I used a copic marker to color them and have them match the larger G better. The “adventure” piece is a metal piece that’s been in my stash for a while. I found it while looking for the flowers and it inspired the rest of the title. I just added a little piece of ribbon through the slots on it and glued it onto the page and was done.
I noticed that pretty much everything I used on this page is from Hot Off the Press! You’d think I worked for them or they were sponsoring me or something. But I don’t work for them, nor am I receiving anything from their company for promoting their products. I just really love their products, especially their paper.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thanks so much for stopping by!
