Puerto Rico Vacation
Last week Let’s Scrap had the perfect sketch for lots of photos. Even though I didn’t have the whole thing ready in time to submit for today’s drawing I still have been using the sketch to scrapbook the many photos I have from our family vacation to Puerto Rico last November. Here’s the sketch:
While I’m still working on the right side of the page, the left side looks like this:
I loved the tree on the Let’s Scrap sketch and just had to figure out some way to incorporate it into my layout. My silhouette has been acting up lately, but I was able to get the palm tree leaves cut before it decided that it’s no going to make any deep cuts (a story for another time). I free handed the tree part, cut out of brown card stock. I also felt very clever when I decided to use brown buttons as stand ins for coconuts LOL!
The patterned papers are from Paper Wishes’ Use ‘Em for Anything Dots & Stripes Papers which have some great bright colors, perfect for photos of the beach and pool.
Since my silhouette troubles I couldn’t use it to create my title. I pulled some die cut letter sheets that have been in my stash literally for years. I had to create the A’s from another orange paper, since I’d run out of those on the die-cut letter sheet. I’d also run out of O’s but the flower with the button in the center took care of that. The tag was fun to make. I remembered my Plain & Simple ABC stamp set and used it to stamp “Puerto Rico” on the green tag which is actually from the Autumn Background Papers set, which includes a sheet of tags.
So all in all it turned out to be a pretty good page and it forced me to go into stash and use product and tools I hadn’t used in a while.
