Pink Valentine

Hi all,

Today’s card is one of my listings on Etsy which has been featured in a number of treasuries.  If you’re not familiar with Etsy, it’s a great place online where you can sell all sorts of handmade items.  You’ll find lots of great card makers and other paper crafters.  Treasuries are collections created by members of the site where they select a  theme and choose items from within Etsy to feature that fit their theme.  It’s a great way to promote and support each other.  Now that you know a little bit about Etsy and their treasuries, here’s one card that has been chosen for a number of treasuries and I figured it was time to share the story behind it.

The trick to a beautiful card is to use beautiful background paper.  This paper is not only a pretty pink but has all sorts of subtle designs going on, hearts, flowers, swirls. It’s just all delicate and very pretty.  It comes from the Love Letters 6×6 paper pad by First Edition papers.

The other thing that I think is eye-catching about this card is that adorable little bird alongside the sentiment.  That little bird is actually included in the Valentine’s Sayings set from Hero Arts, which I’ve used a lot this Valentine’s season.  Not only is this set versatile because of it’s many sentiments, but it also includes little images like the bird that work so well to create a focal.  To embellish the little bird I added a little bit of glitter using a Sakura clear glitter pen.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.  Thanks so much for stopping by!
