Mother's Day Elegant Lady Card
Today’s card is a pretty elegant card for Mother’s Day, using one of my new favorite images for this occasion.
I absolutely love how this card turned out. The papers come from Bo Bunny’s Gabrielle 6×6 paper pad. This collection has beautiful vintage-y papers in a pretty color palette.
The story of this focal image is one of trial and error and finally salvaging. The image comes from the Vintage Roses set from Our Craft Lounge. Even though this is a new set to me, the company has gone out of business recently, so these aren’t readily available. I started stamping the image onto white card stock and had a hard time finding the right coloring medium. Most of the image was colored with copics, but I didn’t have the right color of teal to match that strip of paper. I did however, have a water color pencil from Stamping Up that came close to matching. So I used that with my water brush to color in her blouse and part of her hat. I then intended to stamp the sentiment right below the image, and as soon as I stamped it I smudged some black ink really close to the image. I took a deep breathe and then decided to cut around the image and then I put it aside, not sure how to incorporate it into a card. I went on to other projects. After a few days I picked up the piece again trying to figure out how to salvage it. After all that coloring work I didn’t want to give up on it. Finally, an aha moment! I inked the edges and glued it onto that pretty patterned paper and used my Nestabilities dies to cut the whole thing into a circle. Loved it! It looks like she’s standing by a window. Once I figured that part out the rest came together pretty easily.
The sentiment comes in the same set. I stamped it onto the pretty teal strip of patterned paper and added some nail heads in a coordinating color for some bling.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thanks so much for stopping by!
