Holiday Card: MFT Sketch 146
I’m taking a break from Halloween cards today to bring you a Holiday card. I know I’m skipping a few holidays there, but I wanted to create a card for this week’s sketch challenge over at My Favorite Things. I’m not sure that I’ve ever tried an MFT sketch before and so I wanted to try. I also just got in the mail some new MFT goodies and wanted to play with those and they happen to be holiday themed. So here’s their sketch.
I gotta tell you this sketch was really challenging for me. Probably because I wanted to use MFT products for it and my collection of MFT goodies is still a bit limited. I thought I had it all worked out with one image and after spending a lot of time coloring and cutting the image it wasn’t going to work with the sketch. Finally, this is what I came up with.
As you can see I ended up turning the sketch into a horizontal card. I just couldn’t get the sentiment strip and the snowflake to fit well on the vertical version. The papers come from the Christmas Combo pack from DCWV. Its an older collection of 12×12 papers. I’ve been using these papers to create a number of holiday sets (stay tuned for these later closer to the holiday season), so I had them out on my desk and decided to use them on this card.
I cut the snowflakes using my Cuttlebug and the MFT Let It Snowflake Dies. The sentiment comes from the new Ornament Banner Builder stamp set from MFT. I stamped it onto a strip of card stock I cut out using the Sentiment Strips dies also from My Favorite Things.
Here’s a closer look at the sentiment strip. Finally I added some red pearls to the centers of the two white snowflakes to make those stand out a bit more and was finally done with the card.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Thanks so much for stopping by!
