Christmas Day Scrapbook Page

This weekend I finally finished by 2011 scrapbook!  Thanks to the Lets Scrap sketches I was able to finish up.  Here’s this week’s sketch.

I used the left hand side of the layout and created this page about our Christmas Day 2011.

Instead of one large 5×7 photo I used 7 photos!  Shrinking my photos to 2×3 is a great way to fit more photos into a layout, which also diminishes the number of scrapbook pages I have to create for any given album.  The background patterned paper comes from Deja Views Fair Isle Christmas.  Very pretty papers in this pack of patterned paper.  This particular one has subtle music notes patterns and a very thin cream swirly border along one edge.

The big artistic element for me in this layout was the big tag with the title.  I used my Silhouette SD for this job.  I typically turn to my Silhouette for either alphabets for my titles or for embellishments that need to be a particular size, like in this case.  I cut the tag out of a craft and golden stripe pattern paper from Anna Griffin’s Calisto Christmas pack.  I added the sheer ribbon and extended it to go the length of the cluster of photos on the right.  The “Christmas” in the title is a very old piece I had in my stash and for the word “day” I used more of my leftover alphabet tiles from Paper Wishes Busy Scrappers Christmas pack.  I added my 7th photo to the tag.  I really want to include this close-up of the two main dishes of our meal, yellow rice with pigeon peas and a delicious pork loin my husband made.

I also pulled from my stash for the bottom embellishments. The word strips also come from thePaper Wishes Busy Scrappers Christmas pack.  The red textured tag along with the little reindeer and the embellishment that says “Santa was here”, are all embellishments I’ve had for quite some time.  I’m really trying to use my stash!

I made another page with our photos from New Years Eve and that brings the 2011 scrapbook to a close.  Now which album to move on to next?  I can either work on my Vacations 2011 album.  Yes, I had so many photos from our summer vacation last year that I decided to just make a separate album for the vacation, instead of trying to include those photos into the overall 2011 scrapbook.  Or I have a ton of photos from my daughter’s earlier years which I’ve been meaning to go back and do.  I have the photos all sorted, I just need to get it started.  Maybe I’ll just start both at the same time, that way I feel I’m making a bit of progress on both projects.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed today’s project!
