Blue Floral Thinking of You Card

The wonderful thing about card making is that you don’t have to be pigeon-holed into any particular style.  There are so many different products out in the market that you can experiment with all sorts of styles.  For instance, sometimes some of my cards are more on the whimsical side with bright fun colors or patterns.  But other times I can tone it down and create softer looks like in this card.

For this card I used softer color palette with light blues and browns.  The dot papers come from My Mind’s Eye Lost & Found Protobello Road 6×6 pad.  The brown piece is a super old piece from my stash.  Love it when I can pull something from my stash that I had no idea how I would ever use and it works out perfectly.  The image is from Gina K Design’s Various Verses set.  I’m learning to appreciate solid stamps for how quickly you can color and stamp them, faster than when using a line art image that you have to color in.  I added blue pearls to the centers of the flowers.  The sentiment comes from HOTP’s Tiny Words & Images. I can’t tell you how often I use this stamp set for sentiments.  It is a very useful set to have on hand.

This week I walked into a craft store for the first time in 2012!  I’ve been very good staying away, working on my stash.  However, it was time to get some essentials, like blank cards and more page protectors for my scrapbook albums.  I did browse a bit, but fortunately did not feel too enticed.

Total purchase tally for week #8: $20.70
