Birthday Card Set 2

I had so much fun creating this birthday set, using all sorts of different materials.   It includes cards for pretty much everyone in your birthday list, masculine or feminine, younger or older.

It all started with the DCWV Rock Star Mat Stack.  I wanted those papers to be the backgrounds.  I knew all the cards would coordinate if the background papers came from the same collection.

For the two more feminine pink cards I used dazzle stickers to create the main focal image.  The rose comes from the Stacked Rose Dazzles.  I backed the different pieces of the rose with coordinating paper.  The butterfly comes from the Silver Butterfly Dazzles. This one I placed right onto the pink piece.  The rocket ship image for this perfect little boy card comes from Gina K. Design’s Oh Boy! stamp set.  It has great images for cards for little boys.  I colored the rocket ship with copic markers.

The two more masculine grown up cards in the set are so different from each other.  For the first one I used Great Outdoors Dazzles.  These are brown and are perfect for making those more difficult masculine cards.  I backed the moose with some beige cardstock.  The bottom card was a bit more time consuming.  The beautiful image comes from Gina K. Design’s Guiding Light stamp set.  I used coloring pencils and gamsol to color the image in.  To add some texture I added a bit of double-stitched cream ribbon.  I just love how well all the colors in the image coordinate with the background paper in the card.  The final card in the set is the fun lime green card with the flocked image of the heart and flowers on the corner.  I added some jewel dazzles to add a bit of bling. It’s the perfect card for a tween or teenage girl.

All of the happy birthday sentiments come from two sets, the My Sentiments Exactly Birthday Sentiments and the Tiny Words & Images set by Hot Off the Press.  Very versatile sentiment sets that I turn to over and over again.

On another note, this past weekend my husband and I walked into my local scrapbooking store after having lunch at a nearby cafe.  At first I didn’t want to go inside, but he was curious as he’d never been inside before.  So in I went.  I perused the clearance section and even though he kept pointing things out to me, I said no.  I walked out empty-handed.  I was so proud of myself!
